The National Democratic Alliance(NDA) Government is about to form a group of ministers(GOM) to conjure up ideas to deal with women sexual harassment at the workplace.
The Group of Ministers (GOM) will be headed by Home Minister Mr.Rajnath Singh while it will also include Defence minister Ms.Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of women and child development Ms.Maneka Gandhi and possibly the minister for road transport and highways Mr.Nitin Gadkari they will look into the sexual harassment provision, if needed will remove any infirmities,said by sources. The panel will consider and have a look into the Visakha Guidelines of the 1990s that defines procedures to deal with sexual harassment in India and also its replacement the (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act,2013.
Ms.Maneka Gandhi and Textile Minister Ms.Smriti Irani both have been the two voices within the government who have always battled for the survivors of sexual harassment at workplace.
“The Prime Minister has always given top priority to the rights of women. The first programme that he launched was ‘beti bachao,Beti padhao’.We don’t save our daughters to allow big shots to insult them later in life”Ms Maneka Gandhi has said in an interview.
