As an extend to the centre’s flagship swachh Bharat campaign to courts, the Supreme Court of India is set to launch the “Swachh Nyayalaya” project. The project will be launched on Law day November 16 by the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi.
The vision of the project was presented by Supreme Court judge, Justice Madan B Lokur at the pre-launch function of the project on Friday.Niti Aayog and the Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation along with the department of Justice will undertake the project. It will include construction of washrooms in over16,000 court rooms and weeding out of all files, Thereby making some significant amount of space that can be put into some other use.
It is hoped that it will get completed within a span of six months. The budgetary requirement is all decided with an estimated value of Rs15-20lakh for the renovation of every court’. A total outlay of Rs 700 crore, to be provided by the Central government is therefore desired.
