The Supreme Court will consider the Ayodhya –Babri Masjid land dispute today by the bench comprising of Chief justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and two other judges, justice SK Kaul and Justice KM Joseph.
Today they will decide if the case will be heard on day to day hearing or fix a hearing schedule. On September 27 a three judge hearing session including then CJI Dipak Misra, Justice Abdul Nazeer and Justice Ashok Bhusan decided that there was no need to refer this matter to a larger bench
In December 2017 , a plea for postponing the hearing after 2019 Lok Sabha polls was made by Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal,Rajeev Dhavan and Dushyant Dev on the ground that political climate was not conducive for hearing the dispute .Even though that bench of then CJI Misra turned down the plea after a hearing session
