A class X student in Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Qadipur had once considered suicide for failing in class X CBSE exam even having cleared the same. A year later he earned praises from Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) for courageously securing right to study for himself.
studen was marked absent as his teachers missed out forwarding his marks to the CBSE Consequently, he was declared fail in 2016-17 class X board exams. However, he gathered courage amidst this trauma and wrote a letter on October 13, 2017 to the DCPCR. Anurag Kundu DCPCR member without losing much time took quick actions by ordering an enquiry and went on to give a direct penalty to three teachers and 1 lakh compensation to Amit.
Three teachers include Charan Singh Who marked Amit absent while uploading marks on CBSE portal. Gopal(TGT English)failed to verify the mistake before final uploading and even the head of school DC Mehar was also held responsible
When student was admitted in class XI after the mistakes were corrected almost eight months of the academic session had passed. Then student again wrote letter seeking compensation for late enrolment and loss of education. Having already thought of ending his life Amit again wrote a letter in /May to the commission that he had received an anonymous threat to his life because of complaint against his teachers and requested be transferred to another school
Mr Kundu keeping in consideration the harm done to Amit directed DOE of Delhi to pay compensation of Rs 1 lakh within 30 days to enable the child to resort extra tuition/books etc.SHO Swaroop was told to register FIR against others under Section 75of the Juvenile Justice Act for causing mental suffering to the child and furnish an action taken report on October 26. The commission also ensured that the order is compiled if not the commission will move to Delhi high court.
The commission also appreciated the courage shown by Amit” in securing for himself the right to study and hence live with dignity”.
