The Supreme Court on Friday refused urgent listening of the plea seeking a stay on the release of the biopic on prime minister Narendra Modi the apex court had on Thursday agreed to hear on April 8th a congress leader’s plea with sought deferment of the biopic release till the completion of the upcoming Lok sabha polls, alllegining that it was designed to manipulate the influence an impress viewers and voters “PM Narendra Modi”, the biopic which was slated to be released on April 5th has been postponed till further notice .Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh high court had on Wednesday rejected a plea seeking ban on the realeaed whereas the Bombay high court also on Monday disposed of the plea seeking deferment of the biopic release .They said the election commission will deal with the issue.
A bench headed by chief justice Rajan Gogoi “what biopic? We have not seen it. Perhaps we will watch it over the weekend, then you mention”. Again they told the lawyer, to mention the plea for urgent listing that it will come up in regular course of hearing. Ever since its inception, Narendra Modi, a biopic on the Prime Minister, has been embroiled in debates; more so because of its release around the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Many especially, those with a contradictory political view, called it a propaganda film while congress strongly objected to the film’s release at the time of the election .However, what actually delayed the realease was CBFC. After two minor cuts, PM Narendra Modi is now set to release on 11th April.
