Interim relief was granted to a Sanskrit professor Dr. Raju Musalgaonkar, the head of the Sanskrit department at Vikram University, who was suspended for violating the model code of conduct. He had posted on social media that the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) would secure around 300 seats.
Action was taken by the University on the complaint of Bablu Khinchi, secretary of the state Youth Congress, who had asked for termination of service of Dr. Musalgaonkar. The Congress leader stated that the social media post violated the EC's model code of conduct. The professor however contended that, the prediction of the 300 seats was based on an astrological analysis as astrology was one of the subjects taught by him. He also stated that this prediction was posted by one of his students using his mobile phone.
The Hon’ble Court stated that, considering he is neither a government servant nor has he been employed in any election duty in the Lok Sabha Election 2019, hence the Code of Conduct does not apply to him.Dr .Musalgaonkar further alleges that this suspension order has been passed under the undue influence of the ruling political party in the State.
