The BSP leader Mayawati’s brother has been attached to more than Rs. 400 crore benami property by the Income Tax department
According to the sources of the Income Tax Department the attached property was owned by Anand Kumar and his wife Vichiter Lata.
The provincial order for the attachment of the 28,328.07 square meters plot "beneficially owned" by Anand Kumar and his wife Vichiter Lata, was issued by the Delhi-based benami prohibition unit (BPU) of the department on 16th July, reported India Today.
The benami considered property of the supremeo’s brother and his wife measures to 28,328.07 square meters or about 7 acres.
The Income Tax Department is probing wealth to the tune of Rs 1,300 crore of BSP supremo Mayawati's brother Anand Kumar.
Anand Kumar was the director of 12 companies that were under the scanner of the IT department
During the rule of Mayawati’s government between 2007 to 2012 the wealth of Anand Kumar rose from Rs 7.1 cr to Rs 1,300, a rise of over 18,000 per cent from 2007 to 2014, as per the IT investigation. The major wealth was found invested in 5 companies namely Factor Technologies, Hotel Library, Sachi Properties, Dia Realtors and Isha Properties
The Income Tax Department has estimated over Rs.4, 400 in the bank belonging to Anand Kumar and has a fixed deposit of over Rs. 870 crores.
