Mr. Rajeev Kumar has failed to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation for the third consecutive time in the Saradha Scam case. Mr . Rajeev Kumar is accused of tamerping with the evidence and saved many politicians while he was appointed to investigate the matter in the Special Investigation Team(SIT).
Earlier, on September 13 the Hon'ble Calcutta High Court had removed the blanked cover protecting him from getting arrest in this case stating that providing for such a protection was not the law. As soon as the order came from the court, the Central Bureau of Investigation issued summons to Mr. Rajeev Kumar who was the former Police Commissioner of the State of West Bengal. Now, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CID) is given the charge of Investigating the matter.
It is said that the Mamta Banerjee is very close to the former Police Commissioner. When he was called upon for investigation earlier Ms. Mamta Banerjee had gone on a strike to protest against the officials of Central Bureau of Investigation.
Mr. Kumar also filed for anticipatory bail which was rejected by the court citing jurisdictional errors. He has been breaching the summons time and again and this has been the third consecutive time. The Central Bureau of Investigation has argued that a non-bailable arrest warrant must be issued against Mr. Kumar for not complying with the Central Bureau of Investigation and not Cooperating with them.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has asked from top government authorities about the whereabouts of Mr. Rajeev Kumar as he is not traceable. Search and seizure is being conducted to track him and bring him to the offices of Central Bureau of Investigation as soon as possible so that further investigation can be carried out.
The officials of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have asked Mr. Rajeev's Lawyer to ensure his presence on the next date otherwise strict action would be taken against him. However, it has been ensured to the CBI that their message has been conveyed to him.
