The High Court of Karnataka on Friday directed the Karnataka Secondary Education and Examination Board (KSEEB) to allow a student to appear for examination without seeking Aadhaar details.
After Hearing the Petition Justice B V Nagarathna directed the authorities to issue the hall ticket to D Adarsha Bhat, a 15-year-old SSLC student from Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district. The Court further directed to issue manual ticket if it could not issue an electronically generated one and also permit him to appear for the exam in April 2018, if he was otherwise eligible.
The petition was filed before the High Court of Karnataka where the petitioner alleged that the authorities of Karnataka Secondary Education and Examination Board (KSEEB) are indirectly making Aadhaar compulsory in the Student Achievement Tracking System (SATS), wherein entering the Aadhaar number is only optional.
According to the Petitioner if the Aadhaar number is not entered in SATS, then the online system shows the Aadhaar box as blank. If it is tried to upload the data without keying in the Aadhaar number, a message appears below the box saying 'You can't leave this empty'.
