An Iraqi, a jihadist, and a person who claimed to be the caliph of all Muslims in Syria and Iraq in 2014 who has horrified the world with his continuing leadership of the ISIS is confirmed to be dead, by the President of United States of America, Donald Trump. Thanks to the military operation conducted by the U.S. in Northwest Syria. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was under the surveillance of the U.S. military for a number of weeks and finally was targeted to death by the raid conducted by the U.S. military on 26th October 2019. It is reported that during the raid, the ISIS leader was chased to a tunnel by the dogs, where he had detonated an explosive, thus killing his three children and self. This turns out to be one of the major achievements of the U.S. military to target one of the most-wanted terrorists in the world after years of endeavour and perseverance.
Whereas, most of the major democrats were uninformed about the raid since it was considered that a leak of such sensitive information could have claimed some lives of the Americans. He gained his notoriety worldwide for his savage attacks over the five continents with an intention to impose his ultra – fanatic perspectives regarding Islam. His barbaric atrocities against the religious minorities had spread a wave of terror among the mainstream Muslim population. He has been recognised as the brainchild behind the genocide of the Yazidis, which was one of the oldest practising religions in the Middle – East, manslaughter in the Sinjar mountains which claimed taken thousands of lives, sexual slavery suffered by the womenfolk or people of religious minorities. The report of his death would come as a blow to the ISIS and make the world a better and a safer place, Trump stated. He even showed his gratitude towards Russia, Turkey, Iraq and Syrian Kurds for the contribution of their valuable co-operation. His actions show his claim over an unfettered power over people’s life and religion, thus facilitating abuse of the rule of law and constitutionalism.
He was born in a poor family in 1971 as Ibrahim Awad al-Samarrai, in the town of Baghdad and later renamed himself on the basis of his birthplace. He belonged to a conservationist Salafi School of Sunni Islam, which considered other religion as antithetic to Islam and became a part of the Salafi Jihadist insurgency in 2003. In 2014, he received negative attention of the world for climbing the pulpit of the al-Nuri Mosque and demanding the restoration of the caliphate. He claims responsibility for numerous attacks all over the world including places like Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Berlin, London, Paris and his own birthplace Baghdad. The death of the leader is considered to be a major defeat for the clandestine terrorist organisation and it leaves the organisation with no obvious successor who will take the responsibility to take over Baghdad’s place.
