A Special Court in Bangladesh headed by Justice Majibur Rahman held two 8 members of a militant outfit that is banned as guilty of murdering a publisher of book. The deceased named Faisal Afrein Dipan has published book on secularism and atheism, Jagriti Prokashoni in 2015. He was aged only forty-three and was the blogger of Avijit Ray and published books of Bangladeshi and American writers. Evidence suggests taht he had been stabbed two times on his face and one time in his neck region, after which his better half had registered the First Information Report in the Shahbag Police Station. The accused in the case, namely Mozammel Hossain, aged 25, Moinul Hasan Shamim aged 24, , Abdus Sabur aged 23, Abu Siddiq Sohel aged 34, Sheikh Abdullah aged 27and Khairul Islam aged 24 are reported to be the part of the Ansar Al Aslam which is a militant outfit which is banned. All of the accused are in judicial custody. The Anti –Terrorism Special Tribunal has also issued warrant against another two who are reported to be absconding from the police. Ansar Al Aslam is an extremist group and is identified as a terrorist organisation by the United Nations and is considered to be a sub set of Al Quaeda group. It is pertinent to note thus group has been banned by the Bangladeshi government in 2017 by a notification by the Ministry of Department of Public Safety, which considered the activities of the group being in contravention to the peace and security and public policy of their nation. The group had designated themselves as the Al Quaeeda of Bangladesh. The organisation was formed in 2017 and was involved in many similar killings of other bloggers and publishers, starting from 2013. They have even held themselves responsible for murdering of students and teachers.
