A Research study is prepared by the Reserve Bank of India's arm pertaining to Aadhaar card as the effectiveness and the importance of the Aadhaar card remains to be established completely. As Aadhaar is not fully operational till date, it was very pertinent to recognize the benefits of the Aadhaar Card which is widely understood as providing the cyber-criminals and other country's foreign enemies a gateway to potentially sabotage the Indian businesses and administration. This Research report has been termed as "Biometrics and its Impact in India" which has subsequently been published by the IDRBT i.e., Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology. This report briefs about the immense losses faced by the economy in case of an attack on the databases collected for Aadhaar.
The Report also mentions about the saving that is accumulated by the Government due to the usage of Aadhaar which is contentious. It is stated that the Government had asserted about the savings which had been accrued by them as summing up to Rs. 14,672 crore through various Direct Benefit transfer Programmes (DBT). The report also mentions about the claim made by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) about the savings of Rs. 22,000 crore as asserted by the Government for the Financial Years 2015 and 2016 which occurred due to the radical fall in the prices of LPG which was imported from the Global factors. The Report concludes by cautioning them to have alternative authentic methods for the purpose of authentication in order to avoid the risk faced by the citizens due to the quality of the biometric system which might lead to 'Identity Denials'.
