Duty of Government to give Laptops, net to EWS kids: School to HC
A plea filed by the NGO, Justice for All; which looked forward in providing free laptops, tablets, phones for the EWS children so that they are able to cope up with the online classes. The Sanskrit School in Chankyapuri, have urged before the Delhi High Court which said about “duty” of the Central Government which sought to aid the EWS or the disadvantaged group, category students so that they are able to evolve well with their studies. The affidavit which was issued by the school who urged before the court stating that the affidavit comprised fifteen schools which notified the Directorate of Education (DoE) for not aiding the students with the laptops, tablets and internet to the disadvantaged group of students. The school also appealed before the court in the circular stating about the fees that is the government should charge only the tuition fees, stating that “severe restrictions on their cash flow, while most of the expenditure is continuing”. Then the affidavit said “directing them (the school) to purchase video conferencing equipment for several students, while restraining the ability to collect fees and rise funding, would be impractical and illogical”. Howsoever, the affidavit also stated about the special mechanism which is creating “WhatsApp groups for EWS category students, creating special videos for them to clarify their doubts, and taking regular feedback from students as well as teachers to ensure doubt removal”. Continuous and impacting efforts have been made by the faculties to the students through electronic means such as phone calls, emails and WhatsApp groups. The DoE however stated that children aren’t expelled with the medium of online classes. The court wilfully agreed with the affidavit stated by the plea, Justice For All. Therefore the affidavit stated that, more than 50,000 EWS students are needful with the equipments for the online classes. Moreover the plea also focused on the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education, 2009. Every student has the right to overcome every resistance. The court also said the online classes would highly ensure the attendance of every student. Therefore, enhancing the every aspect, even the virtual one so that every student leads a fruitful future.
