In a statement on Wednesday night, the Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) said that while the world is grappling with the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, "the RSS-BJP combine" is advancing the 'Hindutva' Agenda.
"The beginning of construction of a mandir on the site of the historic Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on May 26, 2020, is another step in this direction and it is strongly condemned by the government and citizens of Pakistan," it said.
The statement said the beginning of the construction of the temple is a sequel to the decision of the Supreme Court of India on 9 November 2019, "which failed to fulfill the demands of justice completely."
India has repeatedly rejected Pakistan's 'unwarranted and gratuitous comments' on the Ram temple ruling by the Supreme Court. It upholds the Indian Supreme Court's decision on a civil matter is entirely internal to India.
The Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) said the developments related to the Babri Masjid, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the initiation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) process are vivid illustrations of the marginalization of Muslims in India.
Parliament 's new citizenship law passed in December 2019 provides citizenship for persecuted religious minorities from Pakistan , Bangladesh and Afghanistan who are non- Muslims.
The Indian government has maintained that the CAA is the country's internal affair and has stressed that the goal is to protect the marginalized minorities of neighboring countries.
The NRC exercise was carried out in Assam on Supreme Court directions.
