According to a survey conducted by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy or CMIE, India's unemployment rate remained unchanged at 23.5% in the Month of May 2020.
We all know, due to this COVID-19 Lockdown across India, many people have lost their jobs or are having no idea of future consequences. Market Boomers like Uber, Zomato, Swiggy, IndiaBulls, and BookMyShow have already made their relationship bitter with a few of its employees by handing them over their resignation letter showcasing the reason for revenue loss. Other Private Sector Employees are also in a bit of confusion about their jobs. At this point in time, unemployment remains steady across the country. Jharkhand has the worst unemployment rate at 59.2%, while Uttrakhand has the lowest at 8.0%.
If we look at the statewide unemployment rate, we'll see some changes:
Starting with Himachal Pradesh, the Unemployment Rate increased by 26.0 points, now it stands at 28.2%.
Sikkim has also seen an upper graph in unemployment by 22 points. Right now, Sikkim stands at a rate of 24.5%.
Bihar has seen a slight downfall in their unemployment graph by 0.4 points. Bihar stands at 46.2%.
Punjab saw a whopping 30.7 points increment in their Unemployment Graph. 33.6% is their Unemployment Rate.
"Heart of India", Madhya Pradesh also saw an uplift in their Unemployment Graph by 15.1 points. The rate stands at 27.5%.
Uttar Pradesh saw a bit downfall in their Unemployment Graph by 0.7%. Currently, Unemployment in U.P. is 20.8%.
Badly hit by COVID-19, Maharashtra saw a downfall in the Unemployment Graph by 4.4 points, standing at 16.5%.
Meghalaya also saw a downfall in their Unemployment Graph by 4.1 points, rate standing at 5.9%.
Haryana, with a downfall of 7.5 points, having an Unemployment Rate of 35.7%.
Tripura, another state from North-East hits 25-Month's worst unemployment at 15.3%.
Assam saw a decrement in Unemployment by 1.5 points, standing at 9.6%.
West Bengal remains steady in terms of Unemployment, standing at 17.4%.
Moving down to South, Tamil Nadu's Unemployment decreased by 16.8 points, standing at 33.0%.
With 9.4 points of decrement, Karnataka's Unemployment Rate standing at 20.4%.
State of Beaches, the state whose main revenue comes from tourism and fishery, Goa's Unemployment Rate hits six-months highest at 21.2%.
Andhra Pradesh saw a decrease in Unemployment by 3.7 points, standing at 17.5%.
The Southernmost State of India, Kerala's Unemployment increased by 9.5 points, standing at 26.5%.
Puducherry saw a decrease in Unemployment by 17.6 points, standing at 58.2%, one of the highest in the country.
Newly formed state, Telangana saw an increment in the Unemployment Rate by 28.6 points, standing at 34.8%.
Another Coastal State, Odisha saw a downfall by 14.2 points, standing at 9.6%.
Chattishgarh saw a nine-month high Unemployment at 11.3%.
Gujarat saw 5.1 points decrement with an Unemployment rate of 13.6%.
And Lastly, the National Capital Territory of Delhi saw an uplift of their Unemployment Graph by 28.2 points, standing at 44.9%.
