Bar Council of India (BCI) chairman Manan Kumar Mishra, who signed the press release, said former Supreme Court judge Madan B Lokur had also joined this party and that his comments on the Supreme Court were "idle talk, undermining judicial authority as a whole."
"We have heard Justice Lokur delivering sermons that nobody at the Bench and Bar should ever indulge in acts that would shake the public's faith in the judiciary. Now, he becomes part of this misguided group of people himself is a mind-boggling departure from his very hyped principles by himself, "read the press release.
The BCI statement said that some comments made by Justice Lokur and others impute "derogatory, defamatory claims against India's Supreme Court," which seeks to "disgrace, defame, and undermine the Supreme Court 's reputation. The Bar absolutely disapproves of such an act and deprecates it. Justice Lokur is not expected to be part of this institution."
