On Monday Ajay Bahl, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of AZB & Partners has sponsored the fourth flight of National Law School of India University, Bangalore (NLSIU) from Bangalore to Raipur under Alumni's Aahan Vahaan Mission.
What is Aahan Vahaan Mission ?
In the weeks of the Covid-19 lockdown, a number of individuals and organizations have stepped forward where the government failed to do so — to help lakhs of stranded migrant workers return to their hometown. One such group is the Indian University National Law School (NLSIU) alumni who organized themselves into an informal collective, 'Aahan Vaahan Mission.' Over the past week, almost 370 people from Jharkhand, one of India's poorest countries, have been helped to return home by chartering a private airline.

The Bangalore-Raipur Indigo Flight will depart Thursday morning. It will take migrant workers from Belgaum, Tumkur and from Karnataka to Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and many other areas. In a novel initiative, former NLSIU students had leased aircraft over Rs 12 lakh in less than half a day to fly 180 migrant workers from Mumbai to Ranchi in the middle of the COVID-19 lockdown.With the help of the Tata Group, a flight with 180 migrants to Ranchi was arranged.
Ajay Bahl said, on the initiative,
"The Great Cause. Thanks from me and my family to the people who have put this initiative together”.
The Godrej Group funded the Second Flight of NLSIU Aahan Vaahan Mission. The parents of Ascend International School in Bandra, Mumbai sponsored the third flight.
It is also added to that
"We had a plane with 180 people plus 10 infants," said Shyel Trehan, one of the leaders of the initiative”.Our youngest passenger was only 17 days old!
The NLSIU alumni had praised Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren 's contribution.
