On Tuesday, the Uttarakhand High Court issued a notice to the Central Government on a PIL, that was filed against Patanjali Ayurvedic for claiming that their “Coronil” could cure the deadly Coronavirus.
The matter will be decided upon by the Bench that consists of Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Ramesh Chandra Khulbe. The bench asked the Assistant Solicitor General of India to be present during the hearing on July 1.
The petition was filed by practicing advocate of High Court, Advocate Mani Kumar who stated that the company owners have misled the public claiming that their product could cure the Corona Virus when they did not even have requisite approval from the Union Ministry of Ayush or The Indian Council Of Media Research.
The petitioner also sought action against NIMS University, Rajasthan as a respondent party, which conducted trials on COVID 19 patients for the company, without the permission of the Central or State Government.
Patanjali Ayurved had launched ‘Coronil and Swaari’ on June 23, claiming that the medicines showed 100% favorable results in tackling the Corona Virus.
The Ministry of AYUSH stated that the facts and details of the claim were unknown to it. The government instructed the company to abstain from making such claims without verification.
The complaint was filed against the Company owners, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna (MD, CEO) was also filed before a court in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
