Calcutta High Court additional judge justice Protik Prakash Banerjee depart his life earlier this morning after suffering cardiac arrest at around 5.30am at a city hospital, registrar general Chattopadhyay stated.
Justice Protik Prakash Banerjee was born on June 1,1969. He elevated to the post of additional judge of Calcutta HC on September 21,2017.
He was son of late Mukul Prakash Banerjee, senior advocate and past secretary of the bar association of the high court at Calcutta and late Lekha Banerjee, advocate.
Justice Banerjee was imparted education at Calcutta boy's school and graduated from University college of law, the University of Calcutta.
While, Justice Banerjee is known for his vast experience in legal fraternity. While at the bar, he wrote commentaries on various subjects of law such as essential commodities Act, Bengal Excise Act while went popular. During his practice he was also a guest lecturer at NUJS educating contract, company law and drafting skills.
He was well experienced in subjects such as civil, constitutional writ, company, labor, commercial and various other subjects too.
As a additional judge of Calcutta high court he has delivered certain significant judgments upholding liberty and gender equality. He also observed " Patriarchy is inconsistent with the normative demands of democratic constitutionalism, its persistence is a continuing threat to democracy".
Recently, he also passed an order granting interim protection from arrest to Rajeev Kumar, IPS in the case CBI versus Kolkata Police Case.
As a conclusion Justice Protik Prakash Banerjee was regarded as one of the highly intellect in legal fraternity.
