The Telangana High Court asked state government how private schools affiliated from state board of school education were conducting classes without having any academic year commenced .
A division bench comprising consist of chief justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and justice B. Vijaysen Reddy was now been hearing public interest litigation(PIL) matter filed by Hyderabad School Parents Association for seeking an action against private schools regarding holding of online classes and even collect term fee without any permission.
Andavelli Sanjeev Kumar, special counsel of government, said academic year had commenced dated June 12. The issue regarding online classes and fee has been referred to cabinet sub-committee. Once it takes an decision, it would be informed to High Court, Kumar said.
He said government has issued instructions to private schools and colleges from refrained themselves for holding of classes till July 31, but Centre had permitted private schools to go ahead with online classes.
Adinaranayana Rao, representing a group of private CBSE schools, said they holding of online classes acc. To guidelines issued by CBSE and National Council of Teachers Education. For exp : States like Delhi have completed two months of classes. This was for benefit of students, otherwise they would will lose an academic year, he said.
The chief justice observed, “ that state said referred this issue into cabinet sub-committee, which is still pending decision . Therefore government wants private schools to fleece parents with exorbitant fees.”
While refusing private schools without hearing them, the court had directed the petitioner to take proceedings against all private schools who were holding online classes and government needs to submit its policy decision on matter. The Centre was directed to file its counter affidavit and court posted the PIL till dated July 13 for hearing.
