CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government on Friday claims and challenges state high court's order for allowing private schools to collect all type of fees from students despite of conducted online or offline classed held by them.
Chief Minister Singh had earlier expressed his concerned over private schools charging exorbitant fees from students even during no conduct of online or offline classes were held amid COVID lockdown, an official release said here.
The matter comes up with discussion on Wednesday's during Cabinet’s meeting when Advocate General Atul Nanda has been told to move high court for challenge plea of respectable single-judge bench order.
The state government plea directly pointed towards private schools, that despite of any pleading incapacity to meet financial expenditures during this tough time, and had not placed on any record evidence or material for proves the same.
It was contended in government's petition that single judge, in his ruling, had completely ignored fact of state government had been follow as per issued orders directing private schools to charge only the particular 'tuition fee' (in respect towards online education provided by them), to mitigate the emergent hardship faced by parents due to COVID-19 crisis.
As per accordance with order and judgement, according to government's plea, provides no mechanism to check and verify 'actual expenditure' while allowing schools to charged it.
Thus, there were many practical difficulties towards enforceability and implementation of aforesaid order and judgment as per accordance, it said.
"In similar matter involves challenges of identical order issued by honourable Government of Haryana, to coordinate bench of an aforesaid order passed due to remain suspended till month of September without grant of any kind of remedy relief or other private schools of Haryana as till now," state government said in its petition
