Kochi, on Jul 11 (PTI) Kerala High Court has stated that police should provide compulsory protection, if necessary, to her life and property of a nun who claiming that she was facing threat from authorities of her convent and some priests of her diocese.
In its interim order, High Court dated on July 9 directed police personnel towards "better ensure of law and order maintained and, if necessary, provide adequate protection to her life and property of respective petitioner from any incursions by respondents." Court also said case will be only 7considered after 10 days.
In her petition, the nun said she was member of F C Convent (FCC) at Karakkamala in Wayanad district and she has also filed petition with police regarding seeking of protection from forceful eviction from convent and also asked protection for her life and properties from "henchmen or hired goondas" engaged in authorities of her convent and two priests of her diocese.
But no action was taken by police on complaint till far, she stated.
The num of said she still living in fear and sought direction from police personnel for provides adequate protection to her. Lucy Kalappura, who took part in protest run by nuns belonging to diversity Missionaries of Jesus Congregation, for seeking an arrest of Bishop Franco Mulakkal, accused of raping a nun, was expelled by FCC dated in August,2019. The FCC expelled her regarding "failing" to provide adequate explanation towards her lifestyle, which violated allegedly church norms. The Vatican had ratified the same decision. The nun have removed all charges putted against her by congregation, saying that many of were "deliberate attempted to paint her into bad image."
