Actress Rhea Chakraborty on Monday(10th August) has filed a fresh affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that the media was unfairly holding a trial & pronouncing her guilty.
Last month Rhea had filed a plea seeking a transfer of investigation in the FIR from Patna to Mumbai. Justice Hrishikesh Roy had refused to grant a stay in her plea for transferring the case from Patna to Mumbai and stay on the investigation by the Bihar Police in the FIR filed against her by SSR’s father.
“The issue is blown out of proportion in Media. Media Channels are examining and cross-examining all the witnesses in the case. The Petitioner is already convicted by media even before a fowl-play in the death of Sushant Singh Rajput is established …..Media had convicted accused in 2G and Talwar case in a similar fashion where each and every accused was later on found innocent by the Courts”, stated Rhea.
She also urged the top court to ensure that she is not be made a scapegoat of political agenda in the wake of the Bihar elections scheduled later this year.
She has even stated in her affidavit that two other actors Ashutosh Bhakre & Sameer Sharma have even committed suicide recently, but there has been no “whisper of the same in power corridors.”
Moreover, she even claims that the CBI investigation is wrong as there are certain rules that need to be followed before transferring a case to CBI. The CBI has no jurisdiction to investigate the present matter.
She even claims that the Respondent State of Bihar has acted illegal way in forwarding the case to the Add. CMP at Patna Sadar instead of forwarding to the jurisdictional magistrate at Mumbai. It was pointed out that the ruling party in Bihar and centre are the same and the same party in the State of Maharashtra is in the minority.
Earlier the bench had granted 3 days to all the parties to file a reply and even asked for the update from the Maharashtra government in the investigation done by them to date. The matter will be heard on the 11th of August.
