CBSE to conduct compartment examination for the students of Class X and XII who failed to qualify in one or more subjects in board exams.
A student association of 809 pupils has written a plea letter to the Chief Justice of India SA Bobde against the conducting of compartment examination by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the unqualified candidates of Class X and XII.
The alleged exam to be conducted for the students who have failed in one or more subjects. Such an examination will provide three chances to clear the paper.
On behalf of 809 students, the National General Secretary of the All India Students Association, Sandeep Saurav, has drafted the plea letter. The letter has mentioned as there has been no updating of such an examination schedule, the deadlines have been initiated by most colleges around the country.
The decision by CBSE has exposed students, teachers, staff, and parents to the risk rapid growth of Corona Virus in the country stated in the letter.
After the declaration of the result, the letter states the statics of students need to appear for the examination are 1, 50,198 Class X students, and 87,651 Class XII students.
After such an order was passed by CBSE, a plea was submitted in the Supreme Court. The Apex court ordered the CBSE on July 13th, to submit their representation, and following that decision will be taken. But the board has made a statement in moving forward with the examination.
The letter also mentions as the schools have been converted into quarantine centers conducting an offline examination is impossible and risky.
The decision taken by CBSE is completely against the Unlock III guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs which has ordered all forms of an educational institution to remain close till July 29th.
The Union Minister of Higher Education has not stated any particular date of reopening of such educational institutions.
"How can the students be then expected to appear for compartment examination in the current situation? The students are not contending the importance of exams but are seeking the appropriate direction of this Hon’ble Court only in this pandemic situation."
-reads the letter petition.
The letter further stated the compartment examination has already been declared canceled by the states of Bihar and Telangana.
Thus, the letter petition prays to withhold the alleged examination until normalization of the pandemic situation.
