The National Lok Adalat was conducted under the guidance of Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) on 14th July. The total of 10,309 cases were disposed by the Adalats and the total settlement amount rendered was Rs. 37.20 Crore.
In all 11 districts the Lok Adalats were held, presided by the Judges/Retired Judges of District Court, Delhi. The matters entertained by the Adalat were criminal, civil and motor accidents claims which had the scope of compromise. According to the statement given by an official, 236 cases of Motor Accidents claims were settled by the Lok Adalat and the settlement was done upto the amount of Rs. 18.77 Crore only in one day.
In Delhi High Court, the Lok Adalat disposed of 20 cases and settlement amount extended to Rs. 1.27 Crore. In District Consumer Forums, the Lok Adalat disposed of 105 cases and the total amount of settlement was Rs. 4.97 Crore. In Debt Recovery Tribunals, the Lok Adalat disposed 17 cases and the total settlement amount was Rs. 8.70 Crore.
