Whistle blower Edward Snowden while address an event via video conference said that the Government must impose penalty on anyone who used the Aadhar data for any purpose other than public services. He further mentioned that if the Government was bent on public good and better governance , criminal penalty must find its way on anyone misusing data.
Systemisation of society is not stated in the scheme of things for Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDIA) but mass surveillance would indeed reflect Aadhar as it structures systemisation of society. Snowden was direct when he said that governments would not on the face of it tell that one doesn’t have rights. The government would rather say that they would bring in measures to safeguard such rights. He was of the opinion that youngsters are very much aware and concerned about the issue of privacy. The Government should in turn explain why people do not require such rights. Privacy indeed is a subject that can be protected through better encryption systems, as mentioned by a former USA Secret Agency CIA employee.
