It has been still raining in Kerala and if the weather forecast is to be believed, Kerala will have to face heavy rainfall for another week. Each helping hand will prove to be a blessing in these trying times of Kerala and as citizens of the nation it becomes our responsibility to help our fellow citizens in need, irrespective of any cultural differences. The Attorney General of India while highlighting the disastrous situation of Kerala said that it will take over 10 years for the state to recover. It is sad to go back to the place where houses no longer exist and thus, he suggested that the fine amount which is imposed on one of the litigants should go to the relief funds. The Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra accepted the suggestion. Further, the Chief Justice of India has also promised that the judges of Supreme Court will also contribute to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.
Besides this, a circular was also issued by the Supreme Court which said that the Floods in the state of Kerala has created a chaos and is causing extreme misery to the people. Lives of thousands of people have been lost, many people have been rendered homeless due to the destruction of homes. Crores of property has been destroyed. Kerala has witnessed such floods after a period of 100 years. Thus, even a small contribution adds to an initiative to help.
