UNCLAIMED DEPOSITS ACT, 1870
STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS "The object of this Bill is merely to enable the High Courts at the Presidency Towns to deal with the costs of petitions for securities and moneys transferred to Government under Acts XXV of 1866, XXIV of 1867. Such petitions are sometimes merely speculative and in the absence of power such as the present Bill proposes to confer, the time of the Courts is liable to be wasted." - Gazette of India, 1870.
