THE BIHAR CONTINGENCY FUND (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2011
An Act to amend the Bihar Contingency Fund Act, 1950 (Bihar Act 19, 1950)
WHEREAS, the irregular monsoon and the resultant fall in ground water level is likely to adversely effect the agriculture and drinking water situation on the one hand and there is every possibility of flood in some areas of the State on the other;
AND, WHEREAS, relief and rehabilitation measures have to be undertaken on an emergent and massive scale;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Bihar in the sixty second year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1. Short title and commencement.—
(1) This Act may by called the Bihar Contingency Fund (Amendment) Act, 2011.
(2) It shall come into force from 1st April 2011.
2. Amendment of section-4 of Bihar Act 19 of 1950.- For the proviso to section-4 of the Bihar Contingency Fund Act, 1950 (Bihar Act 19, 1950) shall be substituted as follows :-
"Provided that during the period beginning on the date of commencement of the Bihar Contingency Fund (Amendment) Act,- 2011 and ending on 30th day of March 2012 this section shall have effect subject to the modification that the words ''Rupees three hundred and fifty crore'' shall be substituted by the words ''Rupees One thousand crore''.

An Act to Amend the Bihar Contingency Fund Act, 1950 (Bihar Act 19, 1950)
PREAMBLE.—WHEREAS, irregular monsoon and the resultant fall in ground water level was likely to adversely affect the agriculture and drinking water situation on the one hand and there was every possibility of flood in some areas of the State on the other, for which relief and rehabilitation measures might have been required to be undertaken on an emergent and massive scale, the size of the contingency fund was increased by Bihar Contingency Fund (Amendment) Act, 2011 [Bihar Act 14, 2011] to Rs.1000 (One thousand) Crore;
AND, WHEREAS, apart from all the above, to ensure remunerative price, to farmers, of their produce, paddy has to be procured through the PACS.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Bihar in the sixty second year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1. Short title and commencement.—
(1) This Act may by called the Bihar Contingency Fund (Amendment) Act, 2011
(2) It shall come into force from 1st April 2011.
2. Amendment of section-4 of Bihar Act 19 of 1950.— For the proviso to section-4 of the Bihar Contingency Fund Act, 1950 (Bihar Act 19, 1950) shall be substituted by the following :-
