The following Act of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly having received the assent of the Governor on 6th day of November,2001 is hereby published for general information:
THE SIKKIM COMMISSION FOR BACKWARD CLASSES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2001
ACT NO.10 OF 2001
An Act to amend the Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993.
1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of Sikkim in the Fifty-second Year of Republic of India as follows:
Short title extent and Commencement.
(1) This Act may be called the Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes (amendment) Act,2001.
(2) It extends to the whole of Sikkim.
(3) It shall come into force at once.
Amendment of Section 3
2. In the Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993, in section 3, for sub-section 4, the following shall be substituted, namely:
“(4) The State Government shall appoint a person who is a socio-political worker of eminence, ability, integrity and standing and who inspires confidence amongst the other backward classes as the Chairperson of the Commission”.
