THE MANIPUR PANCHAYATIRAJ (FIFTH AMENDMENT) ACT, 2008
(Manipur Act No.5 of 2008)
An Act further to amend the Manipur Panchayati Raj Act, 1994 (Act No.26 of 1994).
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Manipur in the Fifty ninth Year of Republic of India as follows:
Short title and commencement:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Manipur Panchayati Raj (Fifth Amendment) Act, 2008.
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of section 57:-
2. In section 57 of the Manipur Panchayati Raj Act, 1994-
(a) after the last sentence of sub-section (4), the following sentence shall be added, namely,-
“In the first year of his term as Adhyaksha or Up-Adhyaksha, as the case may be, of Zilla Parishad, no motion of no-confidence shall be brought against him.”,
(b) in sub-section (5), for the words, “six months”, the words “one year” shall be substituted.
