Recently review petition was filed in the apex court of the country by The Central bureau of investigation(CBI) regarding the order that granted bail to the former Union Minister P Chidambaram. The full bench comprising justice A S bopanna justice R Banumathi and justice Hrishikesh Roy said “we have pursued the review petition and the connected papers carefully and are convinced that the order of which review petition has been shot does not suffer from any error apparent warranting reconsideration.” CBI filed case against him in the matter of INX media translation last year and on 22nd October of the last year the supreme court granted him bail on the case after reviewing all his alleged charges according to the provisions under Prevention Of Corruption Act. In spite of this his release, he was not released as there has been a case registered against him and was alleged under the provisions of the prevention of money laundering act by the enforcement directorate. After 104 days of custody on December 4 the apex court of the country granted him bail in the case that was filed by the enforcement directorate. A case that was registered on May 15 2017 against Chidambaram, he was arrested by the CBI on August 21 2019 in the corruption case and charges imposed on him were that there has been irregularities in the foreign investment promotion board(FIPB) in granting clearance to the INX media group and has received about 305 crores in the year 2007 when he was the finance minister of the country. CBI filed case against him under the prevention of corruption act and the enforcement directorate filed case against him under the prevention of money laundering act both filed separate cases in the matter of INX deal. He got 15 days custody under CBI and 53 days judicial custody and then supreme court granted him bail in the case registered by the CBI on October 23. In spite of the order of supreme Court he could not get relief from the Tihar jail as he was taken into custody by the enforcement directorate.
