The High Court of West Bengal has requested the authorities to start a bus service which will be specifically for the aspirants of NEET-UG and further requested to start this service early in the morning so that there is no delay in time to reach the examination center and the frequency of the bus service should be increased which will enable the students to reach the respective examination center in time and with no difficulty. this petition was submitted to the court by a student who is itself a NEET-UG aspirant.
The counsel of the petitioner submitted that the petition was filed because there are many students who have been assigned the examination centers which are far away from their homes and if there is no private transport available to students they could not attend the examination and to overcome this issue the request has been submitted that there should be public transport facility available which would be specifically for the NEET-UG aspirants.
In the context above, the Court ordered that, considering the pandemic that is being spread by the COVID-19 virus the trains are not in operation and has further made an effort to bring this under the knowledge of state authorities that there should be at least bus service available for the students so that it enables a large number of students to reach their respective examination centers in time. Further, the court also said that any student who is Covid-19 positive will be placed in a separate isolated room to conduct the examination so that the other students who are not affected by the virus should remain safe.
The State Government also asked that along with the students, support staff should also get the necessary help and necessary protective measure should be taken in the view of the pandemic coronavirus and proper physical distance should be maintained and the number of students in each examination should be limited so that every student can attend the examination without the fear of pandemic and keeping in mind, all the guidelines, afety of the students should be the first priority for all the authorities and no compromise should be done in any issues.
