The Supreme Court collegiums have recommended Chief Justices for appointment in Allahabad, Patna, and Tripura & Madhya Pradesh High Courts.
Justice Govind Mathur has been recommended to be appointed as the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court as he was the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court last week. Justice Mathur the senior most judge from Rajasthan High Court is recommended as the new Chief Justice while Justice Ajay Rastogi one among the two current Chief Justices of Rajasthan High Court has been recommended to be elevated to the Supreme Court.
Justice S K Seth has been recommended to be appointed as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. Justice Seth is the most senior most judge from Madhya Pradesh High Court. The office of the Chief Justice was Vacant after the elevation of Justice Hemant Gupta to the Supreme Court,
Justice AP Sahi has been recommended to be appointed as the Chief Justice of Patna High Court. The office of the Chief Justice was Vacant after the elevation of Justice MR Shah to the Supreme Court, Justice Sahi senior most judge of Allahabad High Court and has been functioning in that high court ever since his elevation. While recommending him the Supreme Court took into consideration that Allahabad High Court being the largest high court of the country has only one Chief Justice at present.
Justice Sanjay Karol has been recommended to be appointed as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court. The office of the Chief Justice would be falling vacant consequent upon the elevation of Justice Ajay Rastogi to the Supreme Court. Justice Karol the senior most judge from Himachal Pradesh High Court and has been functioning in the high court ever since his elevation. Justice Karol will be appointed on February 22, when Chief Justice of Manipur High Court Justice Abhilasha Kumari retires.
