Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised that he would introduce Budgetary provisions for the welfare of advocates in the event of his becoming the Prime Minister of our Nation. He made this statement at the closing ceremony of the Jubilee Celebrations of the BCI during his tenure as the chief minister of Gujarat. The letter sent by the BCI Chairman Manan Kumar reminded PM Modi of these promises.
Since the Budget session is nearing, the Prime Minister is requested to fulfil the list of demands submitted by the BCI. The BCI said that as citizens of this nation, lawyers and their families are also entitled to the basic requirements to live a healthy and respectable life. Further, the BCI said that the government response is expected to be given on January 31, and in a meeting between the BCI and High Court Bar Associations, it was decided to organise a demonstration at Delhi. Before proceeding further, they found it to be proper to request the Prime Minister with reminding his promises.

In addition to these demands, the BCI has requested the Union Government to allocate Rs. 50 crore for this purpose, and transfer the amount to the Trust Committee headed by the Advocate General. The council also made a suggestion for the constitution of a seven-member committee in every state to efficiently utilize the funds received. Conclusively, the letter expressed gratitude to PM Modi for his efforts in fighting for the rights and privileges of lawyers during his Chief Ministership.
