In a bid to win the hearts of the people of valley, the Jammu & Kashmir Government has decided to take back the case registered against the youths involved in stone pelting. The government has taken this step on the advice of the interlocutor appointed by the centre, Mr. Dineshwar Sharma. Around 11500 cases against 4500 youths of stone pelting were registered from july last year. The unrest broke out last year after the death of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani in an encounter.
Mr. Sharma is taking steps to ensure that the people of Kashmir accept the current regime and try to live peacefully. He has also looked into the social conditions in the valley and suggested some measures to the government. One among those is to ensure the continuous electricity supply. Government has decided to purchase additional 300 megawatts for fulfilling the electricity demands.
The government will also take steps for rehabilitating locals who have joined terrorist groups but have not indulged in any heinous crime. Many efforts are taken by the government on the instructions of Mr. Sharma to ensure that peace returns to valley.
