National Green Tribunal is a specialized body which deals with the cases pertaining to environment protection and other natural resources. Recently, it reprimanded the AAP Government i.e., the Delhi Government led by Arvind Kejriwal for not taking any action on the heavy Air pollution by referring to the disruption caused in conducting the third test match between India and Srilanka in spite of low air quality levels. The chairperson of the National Green Tribunal, Swatanter Kumar who headed the bench questioned the government for not taking proper actions. He also mentioned about various scenarios which included the sufferings of the spectators, the abandonment of the match and how the players experienced hardship in playing the match by wearing masks. The tribunal had also questioned and enquired about the matters pertaining to the meetings which have been held by them and for not taking any action against the two-wheelers which has been creating the major pollution.
After the hearing, the panel had asked the Kejriwal Government and the four neighboring states i.e., Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh to come to a conclusion as to how to curb the pollution by giving them 48 hours to submit a final report about the appropriate steps which has to be taken.
