Another statement came out of the High Court of Madars showing displeasure over the use of illegal banners and hoardings, the court also asked if the state government led by All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) would take a stand against the illegal hoardings. The Madras High Court slammed the state government over the illegal use after the death of a Chennai based techie who died in a road accident as when she was driving the hoarding fell on her two-wheeler vehicle resulting her to loose control and then run over by a water tank , the driver was also arrested. The court also stated that their is great danger to the life of the people on road as there are many hoardings without the permission of the authority that can fall anytime on the roads resulting into big accidents.
The Court also asked the government (AIADMK) to provide compensation to the victim of the family approximately 5 lakh rupees, Ravi Subhasri a Chennai based software engineer, "the amount of the compensation should be recovered from the officials responsible for the presence of the hoarding that crashed on the two-wheeler of Subhasri while she was driving," the judges said. Also they pointed out that in the past High Court of Madars has passed multiple orders regarding the illegal use of hoardings , social activist KR Ramaswamy moved to the court to file a petition regarding the same .
"How many litres of blood does the government need to paint the road of the innocent people who died" said the bench headed by Justice M Sathyanarayanan and Justice N Seshasayee , the case has been registered under section 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) and section 304A (causing death by negligence) of Indian Penal Code, 1860 against the former AIADMK councillor C Jayagopalan. The hoardings were installed on the celebration of his son's marraige without any permission of the authorities. The court also said that "we live in a country where there is no repect of life of the innocent people" also pointing out the politic apathy. The court also directed the police commissioner to arrest all people who are involved in this case. Lastly court said that they have totally lost "faith in the government". Also "not even a single party leader has issued a statement asking their members to remove these banners even after a innocent died, lost faith in the current TN government". The next hearing is scheduled on september 19, 2019.
