A plea has been filed in Supreme Court to have its immediate intervention in the ongoing crisis, taking into account the current ineffective measures of the Government to prevent the spread of COVID19 pandemic. The petitioners have stated that the “Pandemic has crossed the virtue of expectations” on one end & government’s actions to curb the devastation financial & social outcomes are insufficient on the other hand.
The petitioners urged to the SC that the centre and authorities concerned are unable & incapacitated to ensure well being of its citizens as it was supposed to do as consequences of the complete lockdown were not analysed before. Therefore, the general public which mainly includes labour class depend on daily wages has been left out in dire straits.
Highlighting the ignorance & inability of the Government, owed to the majority which lives on streets, rented house, petitioners quote the Government as “inexperienced” to implement policies for its citizens. Lockdown is also being breached due to lack of policies, yesterday at Anand Vihar Bus terminal, there were lakhs of people who were waiting to board their respective bus to reach homes but the ineffectiveness of the government got highlighted yesterday in Delhi.
