PM Narendra Modi has recommended state-specific instructions for restructuring distribution companies instead of a particular one kind of plan and concentrate on consumer satisfaction in the process of restoring fiscal maintainability of the power sector.
The PM made a recommendation during a review meeting of the power & renewable energy ministries on Wednesday and indicated that tribulations, specifically in the electricity division sector, differ over states and regions.
“In substitute of looking for one size fits all solution, the ministry is supposed to put in a place state-specific solutions to incentivize every state to advance its performance,” as per the government statement quoted by PM Modi.
The review emerges to have clarified the way for the cabinet commending the reviewed tariff policy, which is of the objective at making customer the king with a proviso to make distribution companies pay for wayward blackouts. The policy also restricts the distribution companies from passing on to customers the fiscal burden of line losses more than 15%, a move with the objective of keeping power accessible and encouraging efficiency. The policy has been clarified by a group of ministers lead by home minister Amit Shah.
Other then the tariff policy, the PM has also taken stock of various other policy steps such as the Electricity Act bill 2020 that aspires to stop the gaps in the electricity act of 2003 & balance it according to the modern times.
On tools used in the power sector, the PM emphasized that they shall be made in India.
He recommended the ministry to have a holistic loom towards the complete supply chain for the agricultural sector, sorting from decentralized solar cold storages to solar water pumps.
Building up an ecosystem for manufacturing wafers, modules and cells in India, ingots which will also facilitate to generate employment in accumulation other benefits was also seen as an essential part of the plan.
