Paytm, a major platform for digital payments on 6th June 2020 has approached state governments of 10 states in order to promote contactless food ordering and payments. Even for reopening dine-in restaurants and take away joints, the same should be made as a part of the standard operating procedures.
Paytm in April claims to develop a 'contactless in-store ordering' solution - 'Scan to Order' – in order to help restaurants and eateries to minimize the physical contacts for any process, be it menu, billing or cash transactions after these businesses reopen once again after the imposed nationwide lockdown. Paytm in a statement asserted;
“With the norms of government for further easing up lockdown and reopening of malls, restaurants in the non-contaminated zones, the company with the multiple state governments are having advanced discussions in order to urge them to pass the proposal of contactless QR-based food ordering to be a part of the standard operating procedure for reopening of various food establishments.”
It further added that it has approached 10 state governments and in addition to these, it would further stimulate to approach the other states in the few upcoming days. The company also stated earlier that it had aimed to onboard over 1 lakh restaurants in the first phase for the solution. It further emphasized that it has already taken an initiative and partnered with thousands of restaurants for the solution but at the same time it did not provide exact details for the same.
Paytm Vice President Nikhil Saigal asserted;
"We strongly believe that our contactless food ordering solution would help the establishments to get back to the business and also save lives since the core idea revolving around this innovative product is based on maintaining governmental norms of social distancing and dining out the smarter safer way”.
Paytm has also developed a QR code from which users can scan from their Paytm App, which shall be displayed at the partner restaurants to browse the menu and place orders. This shall avoid the need to touch the menu card that might not be sanitized and hence, also reduces the interaction.
