In a late night development, Union Cabinet Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank today declared that the government has chosen to defer the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) and the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) to September.
The choice has been taken "keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality of education."
As of late, an appeal was filed in the Supreme Court by the parents of students who are going to appear for the NEET UG 2020 and those who are settled in Doha, Qatar, praying for NEET exams to be made accessible in Qatar or other Middle Eastern nations, or to delay the test by and large till the circumstance normalizes.
The candidate expressed that on the prior hand, the NEET exam was to be held in May 2020. In any case, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the exams were rescheduled to July 26.
The students had already reserved their seats on the flight back to India to take part in the exam. Be that as it may, since there is a prohibition on international travel by the MHA, it was not achievable for the students to come to India and appear for the exam.
HRD Minister, after a late night meeting with the authorities, has concluded that the NEET test will be done on September 13, while JEE Mains would be from September 1 and JEE Advanced from September 27.
This development additionally comes after ICAI had informed the Supreme Court that the institute needs to take a gander at the possibility of conducting the CA exams from July 29 onwards because of the rising COVID-19 cases at the test centre zones of a few states.
