Ashish Gautam filed a writ petition in the High Court of Rajasthan for safety and security of wildlife in the reserve forest area near Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh situated in Jhalana, Jaipur, State of Rajasthan. The Department of Art, Literature, Culture, and Archaeology declared the monument protected. For supervision, Rajasthan General Development Department transferred the monument to the Department of Archaeological Museums. Rajasthan High Court transferred the case to National Green Tribunal.
National Green Tribunal held in a judgment that the monument is a part of the forest and for organizing social functions that have the use of loud music and fireworks should not be allowed. Appellants argued that putting a blanket ban on the use of monuments for organizing events is not justified. The prohibition on usage shall adversely affect the state tourism and also the monument will be of no use and it will be difficult to maintain. The monument is situated 3km away from the city on Jaipur Agra Highway. It is an ideal location for tourism and for organizing such events.
The monument has both cultural and architectural importance. Paintings in the palace depict the life of Lord Krishna and Radha. Also, the palace belongs to the queen of Sisodiya's. It shows the personal life of the queen of the 18th century. On 11th May 2020, the Supreme Court of India declared a monument open for multipurpose activities with some restrictions. The bench consists of Justice Arun Mishra and Justice S. Ravindra Bhat. SC directed that use of firework, laser light, loud music is completely restrained and musical fountains should be maintained. Time for visiting the monument is from 8.00 A.M. to 8.00 P.M. Timing for fountain and dynamic colored lights highlighting the elements of mahal is from 6.00 P.M. to 8.00 P.M. All the directions given by SC are for maintaining the heritage site without disturbing wildlife.
