DELHI HIGH COURT LAWYERS’ CHAMBERS TO WORK IN SHIFTS, SAYS THE BAR ASSOCIATION
Delhi High Court’s lawyers’ chamber has opened from May 21st in two shifts i.e. from morning 10a, to 12pm noon and 2pm in the afternoon to 4pm. In this limited span of time, lawyers can come in while maintaining social distancing norms and the other guidelines directed by the government amidst the lockdown stated the bar association.
The Delhi High Court had come up with a notice elaborating a new plan for opening the lawyer’s chambers.
Previously, the Delhi High Court Committee had allowed the access of lawyers’ chambers within the court premises just to enable them to access their files, books and belongings.
The circular included few rules among which few were; only one lawyer per chamber, or two per chamber where the chamber is on twin sharing basis, with just one assistant or one junior. The timings of access must be strictly maintained which is the morning phase from 10am to 12pm or in the afternoon 2pm to 4pm. The gap between the two phases is kept for the housekeeping agencies for deep cleaning and sanitization of the portions of the building which are continuously being used.
Some measures pertinently used will be sanitizers and handheld thermal screening devices at the entrance of all blocks. Face masks are a compulsory measure for all advocates visiting.
The Delhi High Court Bar association will be issuing a circular address advocates about the manner of the use of the chambers whilst absolutely asking the elderly members of the Bar to avoid visiting the court till further notice is issued.
Delhi’s Tis Hazari court has issued a notice addressing advocates, the court staff and others to completely avoid the use of saliva to paste or fix court fee stamps on documents and also to not use saliva while pagination of the documents of the court files. It has been advised that everyone should use the plastic sponge damper pads to affix stamps, verify documents and judicial files.
The Court has strictly asked to abide by the circular and to keep the spread of COVID-19 in courts in check.
