The High Court of Kerala on Friday unveiled it's digitalized "paperless certified copy service" to offer electronic certified copies of orders and judgments to lawyers and litigants. As this service is very useful especially during the time of a pandemic such as COVID 19 pandemic, where people are locked up in their own homes.
To make use of this facility. Advocates / Lawyers will have to register and log in to the e-courts portal. They may, after entering the relevant case number, select the requested order, be it an interim order or a final judgment. Copies may be obtained by electronic means after the required fees have been deposited.
As per the declaration made in that name,
"As soon as the Advocate has submitted the details and paid the appropriate fees electronically, the message will be sent to the High Court section concerned. The High Court section will have the digital signature and the certified copy will now be ready"
It is assumed that, at each stage of this process, an SMS will be sent to the concerned Advocate's mobile phone so that he / she is informed of the current status of the certified copy application. Once the certified copy is available, it will be shared with the Advocate concerned via his registered e-mail. It can also be accessed through the Advocate user account at any time. Earlier, in the formal regime for obtaining a certified copy, the Advocates had to submit a physical request and had to wait for days. The current procedure, on the contrary, is rather simple and enables the door-to - door delivery of certified copies, which is particularly crucial during the imminent threat of a pandemic.
In 2019, the Indore Bench of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh became the first court in the country to provide online certified copies to lawyers and litigants. The key features of the certified paperless copy service of Madhya Pradesh HC is that the certified copy of Jabalpur and Gwalior can also be obtained at the counter of the Indore Bench and Vice Versa copying section. Earlier this year, the Jabalpur District and Session Court became the first district court in the country to offer electronic accredited copies to advocates and litigants to improve the 'easiness of doing business'.
