Amidst this pandemic, where the Government has shut down almost everything, people with daily wage earnings are the ones getting affected the most. The pandemic has affected the health of the country immensely. The the economic state of the country is also being destroyed. No particular occupation has been left untouched by this pandemic. Every citizen is in plight either financially or mentally or physically. The Government has taken some strict actions to stop the spread of the virus. It has also actively taken measures in all extents for its countrymen and to provide them with all necessity they want and ask for.
For the said same, lawyers are also being affected, as individual and as an occupation is in plight.
Due to the stagnancy of courts, many daily wage lawyers, whose work is dependent on everyday working of the courts, is in bad situation. For this, the Karnataka State Bar Council (KSBC) has launched KSBC Covid-19 Advocates Relief Fund to help the young, women, and financially weak lawyers, who are practicing in Karnataka. As mentioned above, KSBC will provide needy lawyers who depend upon the daily earnings for survival by making arrangements for food grains and medicines.
The Council said that, coordination with some Advocate Bar Associations, along with the help of State and Central Government, has put the above mentioned in process and the relief fund was set up to help in the furtherence of the objective.
The council has also urged financially stable advocates to contribute for the same, as in suit with other State's Bar Council's.
For instance, last month the Bar Council of Delhi passed a resolution to extend the grant of Rs. 5000 per advocate and similarly the Orissa Bar Council decided to provide financial assistance to the lawyers in need, especially those who have worked for less than 10 years.
