Patna high court on July 1 asked for reply from Patna state education department about changing the criteria and eligibility conditions, after the publication of the advertisement for the recruitment of 94000 primary school teachers on contract.
A bench of Patna High Court comprise the Justice Anil Kumar Upadhayay has fixed September 4 as the next date of hearing on a writ petition filed by Neeraj kumar and 70 others.
The petitioners urged the court to direct the authorities concerned to accept the applications of those who had passed the CTET on December 27, 2019 as the education department should not change the selection and eligibility criteria at the time of selection process.
The petitioners also challenged the education department’s decision of barring candidates who had passed the central teacher eligibility test (CTET) in December 2019 from applying for passed the Central teacher eligibility test (CTET) in December 2019 from applying for appointment as primary school teachers in its order on June 15 this year, though they were earlier allowed to apply as per the recruitment advertisement.
Petitioners’ representative Dinu Kumar said “The recruitment process is for appointing around 94,000 teachers for class I to VIII”.
The education department, on June 8 this year, had advertised for recruitment of teachers across the state and invited application from June 15 to July 14 from those who had successfully cleared the TET, CTET and 18- month DELEd exams run by the National institute of Open Schooling. The merit list was scheduled to be published by July 23 and appointment letters were to be issued on August 31 after certificate scrutiny.
Later On June 15, the department had clarified in the clause that candidates clearing CTET in December 2019 were not allowed to take part against the recruitment process advertised on June 8. The department issued another order, adding another clause that the cut-off date of the required educational and training eligibility is November 23, 2019 to submit applications. The opportunity to apply had been given only to the candidates with DELEd certificate.
