After the inquiry department found Professor Jeet Singh Mann guilty, who served in NLU Delhi for a period of 5 years, was demoted by an order passed by the National Law University, Delhi, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ranbir Singh.
The professor was found guilty of misconduct and several objections were made on the promotion of Prof. Mann. The inquiry lasted for a period of one year.
The suspension order of Prof. Mann has been approved by the Executive Council of NLU Delhi. Such a suspension was pending during the inquiry made against the alleged Professor since last year.
On May 14, 2019, the Vice Chancellor Dr. Singh has stated that Prof Mann has been explicitly using social media to abuse the staffs and members of the University. He also stated false allegations were made against the University authorities.
The other allegation was made by research associate who accused Prof. Mann of harassing her on social media and also stalking her in such platform. which had in fact impacted her daily life and violated her Right to Privacy. The same was proven by the inquiry committee against Prof. Mann.
In response to the letter the NLU Delhi Chancellor and then Chief Justice, Justice Rajendra Menon ordered "for an inquiry against such allegation and till the time those allegation not proven wrong, Prof. Mann is to be suspended."
After the scrutinized investigation on the matter by the inquiry committee, all such allegation against Prof. Mann stand proven. The committee and submitted a report proving Prof. Mann guilty.
The report further stated "to avoide such forms of misconduct in future, Prof. Mann to be demotted from his post as a Professor to Associate Professor for the next five consecutive years. This would immensely affect his later promotion as aProfessor during the demotion period and further years as his misconduct will be reflected in his work record."
