The report that appeared in Times of India on August 25 stated that entire hillock had been flattered to construct the road to connect farmhouse being built in a village called Bandhwari.
According to reports, the entire hillock vanished from this village, which is approximately 1.5 km off the Gurugram-Faridabad highway in one year. It also stated that there were around 50 farmhouses in the vicinity among which some farmhouses completed construction while most other farmhouses were under construction.
Taking the above report into consideration a Bench presided over by Justice Arun Mishra asked the AAG of Haryana to submit a report after taking appropriate action. The Supreme Court directed the Haryana State administration to take immediate action to avoid further damage. Haryana's AAG assured the Bench that the State would act to prevent further damage immediately.
This is the second instance of entire hillock being gone, earlier such thing happened in 2018. One-forth of Aravalli Hills was disappeared in 2018 in Rajasthan. When the top court learned about the disappearance of 31 hills, they ordered the immediate shutdown of illegal mining in Rajasthan.
That time Rajasthan was earning Rs. 5,000 crore from mining activities in Aravallis. The Bench comprising of Justice Madan Lokur and Deepak Gupta said that it cannot endanger the life of the public at large as it would be one of the reasons for the rise in pollution level.
Now in the Haryana case, the Supreme Court directed the District Magistrate and police authorities to take appropriate action which was assured by Mr. Anil Grover, AAG.
