It was revealed by the Central Government that there is no clear data been published that clearly explains the number of Doctors, medical staff, nursing staff who have died due to the spread of the COVID 19 virus across the world. This question was raised in the Rajya Sabha by the MP from the Samajwadi Party for seeking details of doctors who have died because of the pandemic.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) said that the national heroes who have stood for the people in such adverse conditions irrespective of thinking of their own family have been abandoned by giving no regard to the work they have done for the people and citizens of their nations.
The country's largest body of doctors said that if the government does not have enough responsibility to maintain the statistics of the total numbers of doctors who have sacrificed their lives and have got infected by the COVID 19 pandemic, this leads to a situation that the national heroes will eventually lose their moral authority from the government authorities and from the Epidemic Act 1897 and the Disaster Management Act.
Further, IMA has published a data in front of the government which stated that 382 Indian doctors have died because of the pandemic due to COVID 19 and further added that in no other country these many doctors have died and the government is showing no regret in this regards and no relief is been provided to the majority of the families from where the doctors have died which was not acceptable in any terms from the side of the government authorities.
The association has demanded that all the doctors who have died in the pandemic of COVID 19 should be treated at par with "martyrs" of the armed forces and the dependents of their families should be provided with the government's jobs in the accordance with their qualifications.
Further submitted that, their families and children deserve solace and solatium form the national government which will be at least provide respect to the doctors. Further relief should be provided to doctors under the "PM Garib Kalyan" insurance package which will provide relief to the families of doctors.
